Let's Talk About Garden Gnomes

Let's Talk About Garden Gnomes

  1. Absolutely LOVED "Gnomeo & Juliet"! I thought it was very true to the spirit of gnomedom. Kids will think it is cute, but it also has a few gems in the dialogue from pop culture and literature to appeal to adults. Not too long, either. Even a died in the wool gnome lover like me could get "gnomed-out", but at only 126 minutes, it seemed about right. I thought that using Elton John's music as the soundtrack was brilliant. Since nearly everyone is very familiar with his tunes, it provids an extremely evocative background.
  2. Hello and welcome to my new blog. I hope it will become a place for folks from all over to share their stories and comments about the world of garden gnomes.
  3. There are various ways to landscape a garden.  Some prefer a sophisticated theme, others enjoy a rustic setting and there are many who adore the cottage theme garden.  Fairy and Gnome Doors are the perfect accessories for adding a whimsical touch to your garden.  The Fairy Doors and Gnome Doors for sale at The Gnome Garden are each made to order by an expert woodworker in the Ozarks.  There is a selection of sizes and colors.  You can even designate custom colors. The 11" classic fairy door can even be made to realy open

Garden Gnomes in the News!

Here is a clip from "Good Morning Texas".  The Gnome Garden owner, Philippa Dodson and WFAA staff member Paige Smith discuss the history of garden gnomes, pottery gnomes and how to display gnomes in your yard or even indoors.

Spring Is Just Around the Corner

Garden Gnome statues can add a touch of whimsy, color and humor to your garden.  I defy anyone who spies a wee gnome peeking out from behind a tree stump or nestled in the ground cover not to smile.

Some folks like to go all out and create a "gnome tableau" complete with an array of various gnome figurines,  a small bridge, an ornamental wishing well and even a gnome door for a portal into their mysterious world.  I love this type of gnome themed garden display.  However, in my own yard, in which I have many garden gnomes and a lot of gnome related garden decor, you will be hard pressed to see any of it on first glance.  I like to tuck the gnomes and all their acccessories in little nooks and crannies, to be pleasant surprises to those enjoying my landscape.  After all, gnomes are known to be elusive little magical beings and spotting one is a delightful and unusual event.

Not Just for Gardens

Love gnomes?  They are not just for the garden.  I love to show off my gnomes on bookshelves.  They can be excellent bookends!
